BATU KAWAN, Jan 23  -- The problems related to limited internet access in Kampung Pulau Aman here, which is making it difficult for students to participate in home-based teaching and learning (PdPR), will be resolved as the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will address the issue in the near future.

Kampung Pulau Aman Village Community Management Council (MPKK) chairman, Saibi Abd Majid said that the MCMC contacted him as soon as the issue was reported by the media, yesterday, quoting several students expressing concern due to limited internet access in the area, which hampered their PdPR sessions during the Movement Control Order (MCO).

“After the news was published this morning, our village was visited by several MCMC officers, even the state Infrastructure and Transport Committee chairman Zairil Khir Johari also paid a visit to identify the problem,” he said when contacted today.

He was also informed that the MCMC will ask telecommunication companies offering services on the island to re-examine the internet network offered, especially in terms of increasing the speed and coverage.

“I was also informed by MCMC that a special telecommunication tower has been proposed to be built on the island once land-related problems are resolved in the near future.

“As a resident, I feel relieved and thankful to the media who came to this island to help voice the problems we face to relevant parties, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic which makes internet service very important, especially for children on this island to follow PdPR classes smoothly,” he said.

Earlier, Saibi said that the MCMC had also made a signal inspection using special equipment and admitted that the area received poor internet coverage from several telecommunication companies.
